That Wand Is a Wonder!
You pulled down a book from a tall shelf in the Library of Starchime and promptly got hit in the head by a wand that was resting atop it. It looks innocuous, a cylinder of wood, but as soon as you pick it up, light streams out of the end. The barest motion is enough to make fantastic colors, and with a gesture you send light streaming across the library!
Light is all it does, right? Right?
Pranks for the Memories
Diatu Magicademy is a school -- one with different social groups, different Houses, different classes, different levels of experience... in short, pranks are inevitable. The latest one to make the rounds is the Sticky Glyph: step on a certain mathematical rune and the next person you touch sticks to you like glue. Casually brush against them, shake their hand, bump backwards into them -- however you did it, you have a new friend now, like it or not. The glyph wears off in about an hour -- do you wait it out, ask for help, or try to undo it yourself?
The Dueling Club
One of the more popular magical clubs, the Dueling Club is precisely as it sounds: wizards crossing spells, each trying to be the one to 'defeat' their opponent. How to do that varies by the sort of duel -- knocking your opponent off a platform, or getting them wet, or just good old rendering them unable to keep dueling. Less experienced students, like you, get the "water duel" treatment. Use your spells to get your opponent off of their stool in a small pool of water before they do the same to you! Losing means soggy shoes and a laugh at your expense; winning means pride, respect, and a chance for advancement into the club's informal ranks.
Chimera!
Transporting chimera is highly illegal without proper permits -- which is precisely why smugglers do it, and precisely why smugglers are valiantly struggling to extinguish their airship, while the beast responsible ambles down the gangplank and people flee like crazy. A small chimera, its shoulders are about shoulder height to a man. The goat head jabs at the cargo and building it passes, the lion head maintains a watchful forward guard, and the dragon head has taken the "burn it all, burn it all!" approach to greeting its new circumstances.
This is your chance to be a hero, and save the city of Anastara from certain doom at this beast's claws, heads, horns, and fiery breath. Or your chance to run like heck and hope it doesn't notice you.

Minamimoto strode out in front of the Lion's head, spreading his six reaper wings wide. He lifted his megaphone.
"Listen up you factoring hectopascal! You want a chance to avoid capture and cause some REAL mayhem? Then it's time for Reaper Sport 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993751058209749445923078164062862089986280348253421170679821480865132823066470938446095 5058223172535940812848111! Life is garbage. CRUNCH. You and me? We'll add it to the heap!"
Yeah, someone isn't exactly hiding that he's one of the bad guys. Also, he might be counting on the fact that in the UG physical creatures can't actually harm Reapers. That was why he created the Taboo Noise in the first place. So right now? Fear = 0. Bring it on.

Hunk Garrett | Voltron: Legendary Defender
Not having realized he'd stepped on the specific Glyph, or even knowing that something was amiss on the school grounds, Hunk didn't think much of it when he'd bumped shoulder-to-shoulder into a fellow student. That is, until he apologized and tried to step away, only to find himself stuck firmly to his classmate. Well, that couldn't be good.
The Dueling Club
Hunk hadn't agreed to join any Dueling Club, and if he had, he certainly hadn't been aware he was doing that. Still, he's on a stool in the water now, though the water doesn't frighten him. The idea of spells going wrong, now that frightens him.
"W-Wait, I did not sign up for this! Hold on!"

[THUNK! The sound itself isn't much, and Nessa rubs her head and grumbles a curse under her breath before setting her chosen book down and picking up the wand and--]
WHOA! [She almost fumbles it again as the rays of blue and green and white streak across her aisle, and sets it down as well. She's been learning about wands, and has her own, but what the heck is this one doing here?]
Hey, has anyone misplaced their wand? [She might be getting shushed now, being as she's in a library and all, but Nessa doesn't seem to care.]

[Oh boy, this is not good. That's the expression written large on Nessa's face. She does her best to duck into an alleyway--but not to run, but to effect a painful, minutes-long shift to Morphus. Minutes too long. Panting, she spreads her wings, extends her claws, and launches herself into the air. Nessa noted that the lion's guard was forward--so from her aerial vantage point, she dives in from behind. She can't do a whole lot to a scaled back--but she might be able to distract it long enough so that someone can mount a more cohesive defense or a capture mission. And while she does that, she yells.]

In a new world without her smartphone or computer or whatever else? This called for research. And research meant looking through books. Lots and lots of books. The scientific process would help figure out the local magic and figure out what sort of things she could do with the local magic.
And then there was this wand.
"So... is this just a magic rainbow generator?" asked Twilight, waggling the wand a couple of times, shooting out the beams of rainbow light.
"Or is there some kind of trick to it? It's got to be some kind of puzzle. What is it? There's got to be a clue..."

Kengo was aware that pranks were going around the school again, as he shuffled from place to place once more. What he didn't expect was getting stuck to one of them. And as such, he was sighing, rubbing his forehead a little. "We should probably make our way to the infirmary to get de-stuck," he replied with a little tired sigh. "Have you ever done a three-legged race before?"

"No," she said plainly.
Elsa had been dragged into the dueling club room as she'd passed by, a younger student babbling about needing even pairs, and she'd found herself led over to the small pool. It hadn't taken much to figure out what was happening, and Elsa wasn't keen on the idea of hurting anyone. Things in her life may have improved drastically in the months between her coronation and Christmas, but that didn't mean she completely trusted any magic not to get out of control. "I'm not doing this. I'm sorry, but you'll have to find someone else."
Chimera!
Elsa pinned up her braid and drew her wand. While she hadn't wanted to hurt a fellow student, she might have to fight to save said students from this creature. Honestly, though, she didn't want to harm the Chimera, either - ideally, she could find a way to simply stun it or trap it.
However, Elsa was not foolish, and she knew she couldn't take this beast on alone. She looked to a nearby Sundered. "I have a plan, if you're willing to help."

[
Once he gets over his disappointment at what kind of dueling we're talking about here...An opportunity to practice and have some healthy competition at the same time. Oh yes, that is right up his alley. And considering the very first thing Mizael did was find a good handful of spells that could help him feel less vulnerable without his powers, he's confident he won't embarrass himself (much) either.
And so far, his feet have remained decidedly dry, so he must be doing something right. Mizael rests one hand on his hip and absently rolls his wand in his other, waiting somewhat impatiently while his fallen opponent shuffles out of the pool.]

[Well...it's not quite a dragon, but on the other hand, it kind of is? Cut off as he is right now from the dragons he cares about, it's good enough for Mizael, anyway. It certainly seems to have the temperament of one, and he's quite used to that.
Mizael jumps down from the top of some building and utterly ignores the fleeing masses and raging fires to walk right up to the poor creature, his hands spread wide to seem as non-threatening as possible. He does keep a healthy distance, though, ready to leap out of the way of any sudden attacks, as he is acutely aware of how vulnerable he is right now. But he couldn't just do nothing.]
Now, is that any way for such a grand creature to behave? Surely if you're angry, there's a better target for it...
[Look...he's trying okay. Though mostly because it's a shame to see this interesting creature causing such wanton destruction.]

[While he's heard the rumors about this prank and he can't exactly avoid the glyphs if he can't see them, staying holed up in his room or the library until they're all gone isn't an option either. The best he can do is listen and try to remember all the places mentioned as being trouble spots, as well as do his best not to run into anyone. Good thing he has a lot of practice with that.
But it would seem he can't avoid it forever, and he does end up brushing by someone...and then can't get any further because now they're stuck together. Canale lets out a very small sigh of frustration before turning his head to address the other person.]

And yet, here he is, having been swept up by a small group of students and deposited here like a piece of driftwood in the tide. Granted, he didn't know exactly what kind of dueling would be involved here...but now that he's here and heard enough to figure it out, he still doesn't particularly want to participate.
So he'll just be trying to make his way back to the exit now. Or at least to the wall so he can find the exit from there. Can he make it out without attracting too much attention or stepping on anyone's toes? He's sure going to try.]

The stool is steady, the pool is shallow, and the wands are flimsier than the Keyblade he's grown used to fighting with. Which all adds up to Riku standing on his stool, one eyebrow raised as he looks around the club area.
"Really? This is it? ... No offense," he says to his opponent, "but I give you all of ten seconds."

Sayori | Doki Doki Literature Club
Even in an all-new place, the library was the first place Sayori tried to find. Dealing with the stress and anxiety of being in a new place made it difficult for her to keep up her usual smiles and dismissive attitude towards herself. Libraries were... quiet. Usually. She could read any number of books and feel calmer after letting the words absorb into her mind.
A few books into her trip, and suddenly a loud THONK! echoed as a wooden wand fell off the next one she tried to retrieve.
"Ouch!" She stepped backward, looking down at the piece of wood and picking it up. It was just a piece of wood, right? ... Well, the light emitting from it and changing colors as she stood back up told her otherwise. A soft gasp escaped her lips as she contemplated what she now held. Was this... a wand?
Waving it some more, aiming it forward, and she could swear it was sending a rainbow across the aisle of books! It brought a smile to her face. "Oh, wow..."
She wondered if there was any other magic this wand could do. But the rainbows were nice enough, at least. Sorry if she's blinding you!

[Even if this was a magical school, it was still a school, and that meant studying. That had been Roxas's intent, but when he reached for a book on one of the taller shelves, the wand fell... and picking it up yielded a startling shower of sparks.]

[Try as he might to quell the fireworks coming from the wand, anything he did just seemed to make the sparkly shower worse. What's more, he was definitely causing a ruckus in the library. A little help??]

[Really, Roxas had just been trying to make his way through the halls, trying to memorize all the little nooks and crannies the old building had to offer. But while doing so, he stepped on one of the Sticky Glyphs without realizing it, and so when he brushed against someone he was surprised to find he was nearly tugged almost completely around by his arm getting caught on someone. When a couple of tugs failed to dislodge him, he sighed.]
Seriously..? [He turned an exasperated look to the person he was stuck to.] You don't happen to know how to dispel this, do you?

[Roxas was fairly new here, and still wasn't the best with his magic. However, what he lacked in knowledge he certainly made up for in competitive spirit. And when one of the students had pulled him into the dueling ring, that old competitive spark rekindled and he soon found himself atop one of the stools, one of the club's borrowed wands in hand.]
[He couldn't help but be reminded of the old Struggle matches in Twilight Town, and a confident smirk spread on his face.]

Ugh, I can't take on something like that by myself! If only Robin or Chrom or any of the others were here. A healer can't fight on her own! [AND THIS PLACE TOOK THAT FROM HER TOO!!! She's too new to really have much progress on re-learning her healing.]

[Who cares if light is all it does! Sora certainly doesn't stop for long enough to consider the potential danger of the situation. He's quick to get over the unexpected bonk on the head when he realizes just how impressive the lightshow the wand provides is-- red! Green! Blue! It's like fireworks without any of the effort involved with setting them up!
It's not like the display's easy to miss, but he still feels the need to call the nearest person over (even if they happen to be all the way across the room) with a broad wave of his free arm, shooting beams of light off in every direction with his hand that holds the wand.]
Hey! Check this out! [He laughs, sweeping his arm to create broader strokes of color.] Isn't it awesome!?
[He yelps suddenly as the wand nearly jerks out of his grip, and he only just straightens it out before it can shoot a beam of bright yellow light straight at the other individual-- it's a near-miss, though. Whoops.]

[To say Sora can be unobservant would be a bit of an understatement. In fact, he's unobservant enough that he doesn't even realize he's stepped on a Glyph at all, and he never takes the time to think that maybe sprinting full-speed through the corridors could spell disaster.
Running too fast around a corner without looking where he's going means he only just skids out of the way in time to avoid crashing head-on into someone-- instead he just barely brushes shoulders with them. He goes to turn around to wave an apology over his shoulder (hey, he doesn't have time to stop for a full apology, he's still got places to be!), but...
But it kinda feels like he's completely and totally stuck, for some reason?
It only takes a couple seconds of glancing between his shoulder and the shoulder he's stuck to before he starts to very slowly piece things together. Not that he has any clue how it happened.]
Wh-- huh? [He tries to pull away again, fruitless as it is, not particularly caring that he's yanking at the shoulder of the person he's stuck to.] What's going on?

There were many disadvantages to being younger than most of the other students at the school. The main one right now is that being younger meant that she is much shorter than the other students, which made trying to get a book on the shelf more than a little difficult.
Finally she managed to carefully pull the book down, but noticed too late that something else was coming down too. She ducked her head, giving a small noise as the object landed on her before clattering to the floor. Curious, she placed the book down to pick up the object instead.
Then she gasped as colors suddenly explode from the wand, spreading throughout the entire library.
"Oh wow!" she exclaimed, momentarily forgetting where she was and waving the wand to produce more streams in the air. "It's so pretty!"
The Dueling Club
Naturally, Nanako is much too young to participate in dueling, which is both good and bad. It was good, because she didn't think she would like dueling very much, even if it was mostly harmless. On the other hand, it also meant that she wasn't able to practice.
Still, just because she couldn't be part of the dueling club didn't mean she could watch other students duel. And while watching everyone trying to hit each other with magic confirmed that she probably wouldn't like the dueling part, just getting to see magic in action had her eyes growing wide with wonder.

Anyone nearby would've heard a small series of thumps: A book dropped in surprise, the clatter of the wand hitting the floor, then the heavy whump of a person hitting the floor following a sharp yelp. Invesitaging will show Daniel sitting on the floor against the shelf, legs splayed out in front of him, clutching the wand in one hand and rubbing his eye with the other. Upon closer inspection they might even see little bits of smoke coming out from under that hand.
He's certainly cursing up a storm though, and making sure to direct the little flares of light coming from the wand away from him, this time...

He had only been wandering the halls, completely unaware he'd stepped over the offending glyph until he happened to brush past someone and found himself jerked back rather suddenly. Missing that step, he recovered and looked over at them with a glare.
"What-?"
'-is it??' had been the rest of the sentence, but it was cut off rather abruptly when he noticed that they weren't holding him so much as the two of them had been glued together. So instead, the sentence was rewritten and came out with a good dose of befuddlement.
"-the hell is going on...?"

Daniel has apparently been at it for a while, and judging by the soaked cuffs and him currently squeezing water out of the bottom of his cloak- a necessary addition from his normal clothes to his school clothes on account of the sun -he hadn't been doing a very good job of it. Feeling eyes on him, he dropped the cloth and glanced up toward the nearest person, shoving a bit of damp hair out of his eyes.
"Can I help you?" Mildly irritated, but he'll at least be polite. For now. "Did you want to do a challenge, or what?"

As people ran past him now in a panic, Hendrik looked around and saw the cause of the distress. With a glare at the beast, he approached it with his sword drawn. If someone didn't take it down, who knew what damage it could do or how much harm it would bring to others. And as a knight of Heliodor, he wouldn't run.
This wasn't about being a hero, or having anything regarding to do with personal glory. It was a simple matter of a monster being a threat to others and Hendrik wasn't afraid to face it alone if he had to. He'd cleared monsters out in Octagonia, so this was nothing new for him.

Skuld yelped as her wings carried her high into the air just as the creature's lashing claws raked several deep furrows into the ground where she had previously been standing. It was angry and on a rampage! Not bothering the least who happened to get in it's way. Some one could be killed! This couldn't be allowed to continue!
The Valkyrie held out her hand expecting her sword to appear for her as it always had but... there was nothing. Surprised she blinked at her empty hand and looked back to the creature below.
"Ok... no sword... I'll just have to get his attention some other way!"
Folding her wings she dived at the creature darting this way and that in front of the beast to annoy it into chasing her.
"Over here! Too slow!"
The dragon head roared and leveled a blast of super heated fire in her direction which she once again dodged with a quick angling of her wings but the air was very hot...
"You will have to do better than that!"
She taunted, drawing the creature away from town, even as her feathers grew a touch singed.
