That Wand Is a Wonder!

You pulled down a book from a tall shelf in the Library of Starchime and promptly got hit in the head by a wand that was resting atop it. It looks innocuous, a cylinder of wood, but as soon as you pick it up, light streams out of the end. The barest motion is enough to make fantastic colors, and with a gesture you send light streaming across the library!

Light is all it does, right? Right?

Pranks for the Memories

Diatu Magicademy is a school -- one with different social groups, different Houses, different classes, different levels of experience... in short, pranks are inevitable. The latest one to make the rounds is the Sticky Glyph: step on a certain mathematical rune and the next person you touch sticks to you like glue. Casually brush against them, shake their hand, bump backwards into them -- however you did it, you have a new friend now, like it or not. The glyph wears off in about an hour -- do you wait it out, ask for help, or try to undo it yourself?

The Dueling Club

One of the more popular magical clubs, the Dueling Club is precisely as it sounds: wizards crossing spells, each trying to be the one to 'defeat' their opponent. How to do that varies by the sort of duel -- knocking your opponent off a platform, or getting them wet, or just good old rendering them unable to keep dueling. Less experienced students, like you, get the "water duel" treatment. Use your spells to get your opponent off of their stool in a small pool of water before they do the same to you! Losing means soggy shoes and a laugh at your expense; winning means pride, respect, and a chance for advancement into the club's informal ranks.

Chimera!

Transporting chimera is highly illegal without proper permits -- which is precisely why smugglers do it, and precisely why smugglers are valiantly struggling to extinguish their airship, while the beast responsible ambles down the gangplank and people flee like crazy. A small chimera, its shoulders are about shoulder height to a man. The goat head jabs at the cargo and building it passes, the lion head maintains a watchful forward guard, and the dragon head has taken the "burn it all, burn it all!" approach to greeting its new circumstances.

This is your chance to be a hero, and save the city of Anastara from certain doom at this beast's claws, heads, horns, and fiery breath. Or your chance to run like heck and hope it doesn't notice you.

Ummm, what? Here Kariya thought that his tone would come across easily, but he's actually being put to work like that? Sure, all he has to do is nod his head and say that it's done without bothering to put forth any real effort, but he doesn't really want to look like he cares at all, soooo...

"You know, last I checked, this place doesn't seem to be part of the Reapers' Game. Good for you and your work ethic that you're dedicated enough to pursue it despite that," he says with a shrug, "but I couldn't care less. Rather, I want to try living the life of a spectator for once. Maybe you can help me with that."

He points his lolly at the chimera beside Minamimoto. "Go on. Let's see how this plays out, shall we?"

"You are already minus one life so your dream totals zero. Get to work you brain-dead binomial!"

Heh. Brain dead reaper. He'd have to remember that one if the Composer decided to show his face... Well the old Composer. He was about to be this UG's new Composer. And then he could go back and take over Shibuya when he got around to it...

"Nah, dreams are too ambitious," he corrects. "Unless there's a fairy godmother granting it (sadly unlikely), you have to put in the footwork to make it come true. Who wants that? Not this guy, that's who."

So what would one call his goal? He'll at least take a moment to consider that. Something easy, something that just rolls his way... Hmmm. "Let's chalk it up to happenstance? Lookin' way more favorable than whatever it is you've got goin' on here, honestly."

Fine. You know what? Just fine. He had a better idea how to add this garbage to the heap anyway.

"You have √4 choices. The job I assigned you.... or one other task. That you'll be given a now + time."

After all, he needs someone to test the Taboo Noise, make sure they will take down Reapers as well as players. Might as well start erasing by minusing one lazy annoyance.

This was why he never worked with others anyway, buncha zeroes subtracting from his time anyway.

Yeah... He really didn't miss being bossed around by this guy. Or interacting with this guy. Or having to look at this guy. Everything about him is calculations this and problem-solving that. Color Kariya "not interested."

"Forget about that," he insists," I'd like to submit my test with a blank answer sheet. See? There's always another option."

"Option two it is then.... prepare to be iterated." A smirk. "But prepare somewhere else."

He still had to work out how to create the Taboo here, after all....

He made a shooing motion at him.

Prepare? Just who does he think is going to bother with an extra workload on top of having to deal with this future "task"? It's laughable in its own right, but more importantly, there's nothing to see here. Therefore, this is boring, and it's time to mosey on along, anyway.

"Ten bowls of ramen says that preparation would go to waste, anyway," he shrugs. Also, that bet is not for Minamimoto to take, but he figures that much goes without saying. "Give me a call if you ever do get it up and runnin'. Later~."

He gives a halfhearted wave as he turns to leave, not really having any direction in mind but looking for something remotely entertaining, nonetheless.

WHEN he gets it running, he isn't going to call and warn the zero, he's just going to send the Taboo to subtract one ramen eating annoyance...
