That Wand Is a Wonder!

You pulled down a book from a tall shelf in the Library of Starchime and promptly got hit in the head by a wand that was resting atop it. It looks innocuous, a cylinder of wood, but as soon as you pick it up, light streams out of the end. The barest motion is enough to make fantastic colors, and with a gesture you send light streaming across the library!

Light is all it does, right? Right?

Pranks for the Memories

Diatu Magicademy is a school -- one with different social groups, different Houses, different classes, different levels of experience... in short, pranks are inevitable. The latest one to make the rounds is the Sticky Glyph: step on a certain mathematical rune and the next person you touch sticks to you like glue. Casually brush against them, shake their hand, bump backwards into them -- however you did it, you have a new friend now, like it or not. The glyph wears off in about an hour -- do you wait it out, ask for help, or try to undo it yourself?

The Dueling Club

One of the more popular magical clubs, the Dueling Club is precisely as it sounds: wizards crossing spells, each trying to be the one to 'defeat' their opponent. How to do that varies by the sort of duel -- knocking your opponent off a platform, or getting them wet, or just good old rendering them unable to keep dueling. Less experienced students, like you, get the "water duel" treatment. Use your spells to get your opponent off of their stool in a small pool of water before they do the same to you! Losing means soggy shoes and a laugh at your expense; winning means pride, respect, and a chance for advancement into the club's informal ranks.

Chimera!

Transporting chimera is highly illegal without proper permits -- which is precisely why smugglers do it, and precisely why smugglers are valiantly struggling to extinguish their airship, while the beast responsible ambles down the gangplank and people flee like crazy. A small chimera, its shoulders are about shoulder height to a man. The goat head jabs at the cargo and building it passes, the lion head maintains a watchful forward guard, and the dragon head has taken the "burn it all, burn it all!" approach to greeting its new circumstances.

This is your chance to be a hero, and save the city of Anastara from certain doom at this beast's claws, heads, horns, and fiery breath. Or your chance to run like heck and hope it doesn't notice you.

[ The words are enough to make Arbert pause in his attempts to remove himself from the situation. Surely it can't be?

Arbert looks over to notice that it most definitely is one of the crew that hangs with the so-called Warrior of Light. It only serves to have the warrior twisting his arm some more, inwardly cursing his bad luck. Of all the people to get stuck to!]

Not what? Innocent? Such pranks are a waste of time so you better undo it and quickly. [ If looks could kill....Arbert's ire is still mostly aimed at the school itself as opposed to Alphinaud but unfortunately the elezen is a stark reminder of what the warrior is missing right now. He should be back home, sorting his own world out, not stuck in some ridiculous joke of an academy.]

[It seems that a familiar face is not enough to ease the tension, though perhaps it isn't a face he would prefer to see. That said, when last they met, Alphinaud had been certain they would never meet again. Had he fathomed it, however, this is not how he would have imagined the reunion to unfold.

Though, he can understand. If he's been torn asunder from his realm yet again, after having endured so much... He can hardly be faulted for his desperation.]

And uncharacteristic of myself, as you may know. [This conversation might be easier were they not so awkwardly stuck together, but alas.] I haven't the means to undo this spell at my present level of study, but I am certain that any of the professors should be able to assist us with that task.

Mayhap we should see to that first, and from there, we can discuss the more important matters at length.

[ There's always going to be a tension there, an ever lingering sense of failure as long as Arbert remains at the academy. He had been so close to going home with the others, within metaphorical reaching distance and it had all been snatched away by yet another new world and some nonsense about magic levels being too much.

Needless to say the Warrior of Darkness and his tolerance levels are at an all time low. To his credit though he does give Alphinaud another glance over, eyes narrowing ever so slightly as he squints. ]

Yeah, was thinkin' of the other one. [ You know, the girl who could cut glass with words. Arbert twists his arm one final time before giving a huff. Even he's starting to notice that this isn't working.] What, you think goin' to the professors here like this is goin' to get anything other than laughed at? Your head is in the clouds.

[There's a flicker of annoyance on his face for having been mistaken for his sister... again. However, he's certainly more annoyed at the situation, and particularly so because of this encounter. He won't be able to offer much comfort in the way of words as he knows his situation, but he intends to lend whatever aid that he can. Still, being literally stuck together like this is not the way to go about having that conversation at all.]

Conversely, I am on rather fair terms with my professors. I apply myself to my studies, as ever I have, and I show diligence in both mine own practice and in assisting my peers.

[So yes, there is no reason to doubt that they would be anything less than helpful. In fact, perhaps he could acquire the skill to release this spell, should such a thing ever become needed once more.]

Of course, I am open to another option, if you have a better suggestion?
