This Month In Diatu Lousy Shmoctober Weather means you can't trust the skies day-to-day. Some quirk of the air currents around Ascelion means one day it might be summer-hot, and the next chilly enough to see frost in the morning. Students often resort to Intimation to figure out what to wear for the day. Some rely on other magic to ward them against weather, which always results in hilarity when two temperature-controlling spells each attempt to overwhelm the other. Don't worry, the medical treatment stings less than the results! Ghostly Activity picks up significantly this time of year as additional spooks keep wandering onto campus. Ka students especially find themselves plagued by late-night hauntings, but no student is really safe should a ghost decide they need to be harassed in some way. On the other hand, the polite restrictions on smiting ghosts that apply to the local specters don't protect these newcomers. Can you out-terrorize the undead? The Caverns Beneath The Academy ARE STILL OFF-LIMITS! JEEZ YOU GUYS! YOU'RE MAKING POOR PROFESSOR TRAMMEL SAD! YOU MONSTERS! Audio Warfare dominates the campus as other Fantastics students in the school have gotten into a sort of scrap with Valhudor. No one is quite certain how it began, but massive musical performances keep erupting spontaneously and turning even mundane everyday activities into epic show-stopping numbers. It sounds fun until the other faction shows up and starts trying to outdo the first. In fact, bala-inlota practice ended early the other day for the first time in recorded history, as the team was musically portrayed as both dominating champions and plucky underdogs simultaneously and somehow managed to end up defeating itself in an unlikely upset. Anyway, watch out and if you have to get involved, we recommend doing it by being a musician rather than a subject. This Month In Anastara Citizens Found Out About a Ghost Dragon and no one is happy about this at all. Rumors fly left and right, each more outrageous than the last, and perhaps for the first time Magicademy students are regarded with, if not hostility, at least a little suspicion and wariness. (Unless you have Fame! If you have Fame, you're all good!) Adventures As detailed on our Adventures page, you may sign up for an adventure by responding to the appropriate comment on this post. We will respond with your adventure setups in a few days. You may undertake a new adventure this month even if you are still in an adventure from previous months. We also want to encourage everyone to involve others in your adventures! Our efforts at running purely solo adventures have ultimately not worked out well, so we want to emphasize their role in building CR and engaging in plot or silliness. Actions To represent characters working long-term towards a goal, you can submit up to two actions on the appropriate comment below that your character will be focusing their time towards (or one action twice). This can range from studying, to exploration, to trying to gain points for the Colormarch, to buttering up NPCs, to others. At the end of the month, once you submit AC, you will be given your results. Regains Each character may now earn one regain per month. To do so, you need simply comment on this post with what you would like to regain, and some associated concept of your home world or canon. You may also recommend a concept that works with that, a theme for us to build off of. Conflict, for example, is always valid! Once you've received your approval and prompt, go wild with what we've given you. And of course there will be absolutely no long-term repercussions or consequences of regains! (Please pardon us a moment while we massage our jaws back into place, as they were dislocated by not malicious laughter.) Just A Reminder October has five Wednesdays, so the TDM will be the 16th.

On to the Rite of Summoning: With all your studying and research, you believe that the Sundering Circle, wherever it might be, could be the focus for a great summoning ritual. Moreover, you've discovered hints and fragments of a possible ritual that might cause some sort of large-scale spell of the sort you've been investigating. But details are sketchy -- how do you plan to get more?

Yugi is going to go to the Library and see if he can find any more information on where the Sundering Circle might be. He'll also go looking around the school grounds and, probably to the dismay of everybody, be going underground. He knows there are secret passageways thanks to the Experiment, so it's probably hidden! Aaand finally he'll try to pick Professor King's brain about circles and rituals and see if she's ever heard of anything like that.

With all your efforts, you have discovered The Sundering Circle (Diatu Magicademy)! Congratulations!

But now that you know where it is, the question is -- who else does? And who might be using it? (Or is it you?)

He's going to immediately bring it to the attention of Professor King! Hopefully nobody else is using it... though he's had first hand experience with other people using sundering circles x: so he wouldn't be surprised. Has he found anymore information on the ritual / summoning information?

After a fair amount of time spent researching and seeking, Yugi hasn't picked up the ritual specifically, but he is coming to a pretty alarming conclusion: the Sundering Circle was, by virtue of its presence, critical to the ghost dragon returning to a state of undeath. Indeed, it seems to be a startling blend of the Sundering Curriculum and... something else entirely.

Whatever the ritual is, almost certainly it won't work right based on this knowledge. But maybe more needs to be done?

Is it necromancy? It seems like it might be necromancy. Can he research... that...

Does he really want to?

...well, the short answer is no, he can't. Not using the Library of Starchime. Yugi will need to find some other way to locate the information he seeks -- or someone else who knows.

Does the Ghost Dragon know?

He's not really sure who else might know and the Ghost Dragon had been accidentally resurrected using a similar spell ( maybe )... though he knows the dragon isn't exactly fond of humans, so this might actually be a terrible idea >x>

Our apologies on getting back to you so very late -- we had to resolve another PC's actions to determine if yours were even possible. As it happens, Yugi's efforts to find the ghost dragon will prove unsuccessful. It appears to be simply gone! However, we have another option for you if you'd like... because there is one more force that has taken note of Yugi's efforts, who at this point is willing to speak to him.
