This Month In Diatu Lousy Shmoctober Weather means you can't trust the skies day-to-day. Some quirk of the air currents around Ascelion means one day it might be summer-hot, and the next chilly enough to see frost in the morning. Students often resort to Intimation to figure out what to wear for the day. Some rely on other magic to ward them against weather, which always results in hilarity when two temperature-controlling spells each attempt to overwhelm the other. Don't worry, the medical treatment stings less than the results! Ghostly Activity picks up significantly this time of year as additional spooks keep wandering onto campus. Ka students especially find themselves plagued by late-night hauntings, but no student is really safe should a ghost decide they need to be harassed in some way. On the other hand, the polite restrictions on smiting ghosts that apply to the local specters don't protect these newcomers. Can you out-terrorize the undead? The Caverns Beneath The Academy ARE STILL OFF-LIMITS! JEEZ YOU GUYS! YOU'RE MAKING POOR PROFESSOR TRAMMEL SAD! YOU MONSTERS! Audio Warfare dominates the campus as other Fantastics students in the school have gotten into a sort of scrap with Valhudor. No one is quite certain how it began, but massive musical performances keep erupting spontaneously and turning even mundane everyday activities into epic show-stopping numbers. It sounds fun until the other faction shows up and starts trying to outdo the first. In fact, bala-inlota practice ended early the other day for the first time in recorded history, as the team was musically portrayed as both dominating champions and plucky underdogs simultaneously and somehow managed to end up defeating itself in an unlikely upset. Anyway, watch out and if you have to get involved, we recommend doing it by being a musician rather than a subject. This Month In Anastara Citizens Found Out About a Ghost Dragon and no one is happy about this at all. Rumors fly left and right, each more outrageous than the last, and perhaps for the first time Magicademy students are regarded with, if not hostility, at least a little suspicion and wariness. (Unless you have Fame! If you have Fame, you're all good!) Adventures As detailed on our Adventures page, you may sign up for an adventure by responding to the appropriate comment on this post. We will respond with your adventure setups in a few days. You may undertake a new adventure this month even if you are still in an adventure from previous months. We also want to encourage everyone to involve others in your adventures! Our efforts at running purely solo adventures have ultimately not worked out well, so we want to emphasize their role in building CR and engaging in plot or silliness. Actions To represent characters working long-term towards a goal, you can submit up to two actions on the appropriate comment below that your character will be focusing their time towards (or one action twice). This can range from studying, to exploration, to trying to gain points for the Colormarch, to buttering up NPCs, to others. At the end of the month, once you submit AC, you will be given your results. Regains Each character may now earn one regain per month. To do so, you need simply comment on this post with what you would like to regain, and some associated concept of your home world or canon. You may also recommend a concept that works with that, a theme for us to build off of. Conflict, for example, is always valid! Once you've received your approval and prompt, go wild with what we've given you. And of course there will be absolutely no long-term repercussions or consequences of regains! (Please pardon us a moment while we massage our jaws back into place, as they were dislocated by not malicious laughter.) Just A Reminder October has five Wednesdays, so the TDM will be the 16th.

FOR GREAT JUSTICE!: Heroism is hard to quit cold turkey. Even without hordes of monsters to slay and dungeons to delve, Tyzias can't quite get rid of that itch to do good and help people. (Or maybe it's her innate nature to try and make positive change and not learned behavior from a planet that thrives on JRPG cliches. Who knows?) Which is why after witnessing the blatant, horrifying corruption in the Trade Consortium, Tyzias saw a problem that she's uniquely suited to solve and not an unchangeable fact of life in Anastara.

Everybody knows about the obvious problems inside the hive of scum and villainy known as the Trade Consortium and Office of Trade and Traffic, and unfortunately it seems to be too much effort for them to try and clean it up when the department still does its job. But Tyzias suspects that there may be more that they're hiding. One crime leads to another leads to another, after all, slippery slopes, etc. etc.

To try and find evidence of wrongdoing so criminal that the public of Anastara can't turn a blind eye, Tyzias is going to utilize her oldest and most reliable talent: sorting, organizing, cataloguing, and analyzing incalculably vast swathes of red tape, dense paperwork, and legalese. She'll apply for the position of archivist at City Hall, and, if successful, she'll begin the momentous process of trawling through the sea of bureaucratic overflow that the government produces to find evidence of a crime beyond "tolerable bounds" committed by the Consortium and OTT.

First, however, she'll need to get and do her actual job, which may be a challenge in of itself...*

*Note: Since this is a long-term project and Tyzias came in midmonth, this action is only meant to cover Tyzias attempting to get a job in the archives of City Hall and beginning to organize things, not the full-scale investigation.

2) Studying but instead of focusing on one topic, she'll be spreading it out to cover her bases.

1. Study! - He's a pretty avid student and loves, loves, loves magic as it makes him feel more connected with his mother. He isn't overly preoccupied just yet by not being home, so I feel he really plans to dig in for the time being.

0.5. Explore! (within reason) - As much as Pallidus has enjoyed being here for the week or so he's been Sundered, he's still deathly afraid of being out in sunlight. And for good reason! But he's not actually tried it yet, so maybe he won't be burned alive the moment he steps outside he actually is the one brother that is allergic poor soul but he's not quite brave enough to chance it yet. As such, he'll be exploring whatever he can within the grounds of campus and almost always under the cover of night, not daring to step too far and miss his window for safety.

He would be ecstatic if he were to find a greenhouse or large garden area. While he is familiar with The True Maze, he gets the feeling it's not the kind of place he should be going to alone or just to admire the flowers...

Hmm. Since technically Aziraphale has been not himself, literally, for the better part of the month...

1. Studying - He's a bit mopey about his Crowley-summoning not working. I know that's not an action, per se, but between himself and Crowley, there was a lot of extra note-taking and studying about what exactly went wrong. He hasn't given up, sadly.

2. Familiar Bond - After the failed summons, he'll finally start trying to bond more with Creme Brulee instead of just treating it as a sort of pet.

Inspired (ish) by certain incidents with friends, Noa is biting the bullet and trying to find what might help him in a combat situation- how does a squishy wizard become less squishy? He's Going To Find Out (and hopefully it won't involve anything weirder than running laps).

Other than that, he's working with Adelai and the Penguins to figure out some strategy stuff- let's coordinate fellas!

and question: because I failed on doing my adventure write up for the prompt you gave me for "the experiment" last month could I also do that this month?

On to the Rite of Summoning: With all your studying and research, you believe that the Sundering Circle, wherever it might be, could be the focus for a great summoning ritual. Moreover, you've discovered hints and fragments of a possible ritual that might cause some sort of large-scale spell of the sort you've been investigating. But details are sketchy -- how do you plan to get more?

FRULMAAR - strikes fear into the heart of the target, causing them to run from their demons. damage of any kind does cause the spell to break.

... I'm sure the nature of these regains has the perfect reference under getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Power Regain (October)

On Vaikuntha, each Hero of Light discovered their Melody: echoes of their home world that lived on within their heart and granted them great power in times of need. When everything began falling apart and the Heroes scattered to save every world caught up in the Calamity, no matter what world they explored, no matter what rules they were bound by, their Melody was there to aid them.

Tyzias's Melody, Ancestral Awakening, imbued her with the abilities of Neophyte Redglare, her personal hero and the common ancestor all tealbloods share. In addition to greatly enhancing her physical attributes, it summons Redglare's dragon Pyralspite to wreck shit alongside Tyzias.

However, the Melody isn't a power that can be activated at will. It's a desperation attack, only available when Tyzias is backed into a corner, gravely injured, or under extreme emotional distress or when the moment is appropriately dramatic.

Good themes for Tyzias's Melody for you to consider are DESPERATION and/or HEROISM.
