August Activity Check

Welcome to the August activity check for Diatu Magicademy! A reminder of our rules:

You must provide one log thread with at least 5 comments from your character.

You must provide either an additional log thread with at least 5 comments from your character, or a network thread with at least 10 comments from your character.

If you have some activity during the month, but not enough to pass AC, you may request a strike. To clear the strike, you must provide double activity the subsequent month.

Activity is valid for posts made between the close of applications in August and the close of applications in September -- so this month, any activity made between Wednesday, August 7th, and 8 PM Eastern time, Wednesday, September 4th.

Activity must be submitted by Saturday, September 7 at 8 PM Eastern time.

Also, as a reminder, the results of your Actions will be posted as a response to your activity check. If you haven't chosen any, you have until AC closes to do so.

Spyro's efforts to write to Ire have resulted in:

A letter back. Ire's answer to the two is that he has no idea how to keep people away from the ghost dragon because people are just not the wisest when it comes to doing that? He also reports he has no idea how to banish the ghost dragon because he isn't even sure how that's POSSIBLE. Either the dragon had outside help in returning or it is powerful beyond any reasonable measure.

On the upside, Ire offers to answer some questions; you may ask 3.

Spyro's efforts to work on Forging for the guitar have resulted in:

1. Burning question: What was the Scourge of Gaole?

2. Though Spyro's helpful description of its appearance might not be reliable since for all he knows the spirit looked entirely different in life... does Ire know it personally or have at least a guess at who they are?

3. Is Ire familiar with any monster hunters by name that he or (most likely) one of his friends could talk to about dragons?

1. In the time of mankind's enslavement, 'the Gaole' was the place where rebellious humans were sent to work at backbreaking mining and hauling tasks. Dragonkind used this as one of their many punishments to discourage rebellion while grievously retaliating against those who supported it anyway. As time passed, the prison grew less and less effective at the former, and so after one particularly large uprising, dragonkind seized the entire living bloodlines of everyone responsible, locked them in the Gaole, then engaged in gruesome magical experimentation -- or just plain fun, at the expense of the humans. When they finished, a process which took several years, not one human was left alive inside, and the Gaole was stained permanently red. Even now, centuries later, the blood has not washed out. The message was clear: you cannot oppose us, and you will suffer if you try.

That was the Scourge of Gaole. Ire saw it as the moment dragonkind crossed the line from dominant beings to unworthy rulers. That is why he betrayed it to humanity.

2. Without needing any information, Ire knows there are only two dragons it could possibly be: Grieve, the Wizard, whose mastery of magic made even ordinary dragons look like fumbling first-year human students, or Mournless, the Necromancer, who was second in magic only to Grieve and was the most knowledgeable dragon on topics of life, death, and the soul. Only those two would have had the knowledge or ability to exist on after death somehow.

3. Ire tells you to send a familiar to look for "Rose".
