June Game Announcements A Word From Your Mod Team As always, we're so happy to see you guys enjoying yourselves, even as we gear up for the fun fun times that are doing your AC. Remember to do that if you haven't already, by the way! Semi-Secret Mechanics? One or two of you have run across this already, but to let everyone know: there are a couple of semi-hidden mechanics in play: Curriculum Breach, and Attracting Unwanted Attention. Should your character do certain things, well, these might happen. And if you see them happening to someone else, well, we're obfuscating what they mean and what results on purpose. Honestly, why even mod a game if you can't spend the entire time laughing maniacally? This Month In Diatu Beautiful Warm Weather isn't really exciting to talk about. The days are uniformly warm just to the point of hot, with occasional showers in the afternoon to cool things off. The campus all but blooms with students taking advantage of these wonderful days, and as night comes later and becomes quite comfortable, things never seem to really calm down on campus. Spells to silence late-night noises become increasingly popular. Thunderstorms, however, are far more interesting, as this time of year finds Ascelion skimming their tops rather than going beneath them. Webs of lightning crackle through a sea of clouds surrounding the island, and some days the lowest-level docks are beneath the surface of the clouds and become unsafe. Wizards flock to the edges of the island on days like this, tapping the electricity for various magical purposes. That is just one reason... Forged and Glyphed Goods Are Everywhere, on the one hand because the environment is quite auspicious for them, and on the other because midterms are coming up and students are working overtime to practice for these critical tests. Overall, goods of this sort are cheaper and more versatile than any other time -- but at the risk of questionable quality. Innovation and practice do not always mean the most advanced and perfected results, after all. Midterms are a thing, by the way. Better study. This Month In Anastara Work Hard For the Money, because the nice weather and the preparation for a week of fun and folly after midterms are over mean the city is gearing up for business. Shopfronts are being cleaned, stocks are being inventoried, storerooms are being cleared of rats (though most jobs of the latter sort go to level 1 adventuring parties). An enterprising student can make a tidy sum if they're willing to put some time and effort into picking up part-time jobs. Adventures As detailed on our Adventures page, you may sign up for an adventure by responding to the appropriate comment on this post. We will respond with your adventure setups in a few days. You may undertake a new adventure this month even if you are still in an adventure from previous months. We also want to encourage everyone to involve others in your adventures! Though it is possible to do many adventures solo, we intend them as opportunities for characters to mix and mingle. Actions To represent characters working long-term towards a goal, you can submit up to two actions on the appropriate comment below that your character will be focusing their time towards (or one action twice). This can range from studying, to exploration, to trying to gain points for the Colormarch, to buttering up NPCs, to others. At the end of the month, once you submit AC, you will be given your results. The Colormarch! We've calculated the Colormarch stats for the past months and victory goes to Eiather! The Gates and the Walk are now in azure and cobalt, and as a reward, you have all been granted A Forged Wand. These splendid wands are enchanted such that they may be slid up the sleeves of robes or clothing and never fall out, nor cause any discomfort or impairment while so tucked away. So the Ghost Dragon is Still Hanging Out? Apparently. And some students are trying to figure that out. Anastara is a large, confusing, complicated city on the best of days. This is one of the worse ones, where city functions block off roads and crowds stream through side passages unprepared to handle their flow. Somewhere along the line, you and your companions took the wrong turn. Now you're in a maze of twisty alleyways, all alike.

it's about time I got Webby into some adventure shenanigans - keeping with the theme of last month, I'm going with Stop In the Name of Love!

There was a misunderstanding. A surprise purchase, unrevealed, and thus the belief of missing money. If only she understood! But the whimpering man only knows his (ex?)fiancee has a ticket for an airship out of town, scheduled to leave this evening.

If only someone could talk to her! Or stop the airship so he can! But who could be so bold an risky to interfere in such a serious matter as magical air traffic control?

One of the most powerful and influential of the Tenscore Kingdoms, Noa holds a special place in many spheres not for its military and economic might, but also the vasts depths of culture the land has grown over centuries of history. Seeking to capitalize on this, a local establishment is having 'Noa Night' to bring in the business.

Unfortunately, no one associated with the tavern has the slightest idea what Noa is really like, so they're just going off some stereotypical outfits, food that looks Noan to the uninformed, and whatever grabbag they can run with.

Do you attend the night and enjoy this questionable process? Get in on the ground floor by joining up as a waiter, entertainer, cook, or some other position, then fake it like everyone else is doing to rake in the cash? Or is this so offensive to you that it has to be stopped?

Having taken Law 1 and History of Wizardry 1, Kuja may know enough about the world to know this establishment has the wrong ideas. He was nobility in his own world and finds this tasteless, so he will be trying to put a stop to this, or at least better educate the management and point out to them where they've gone astray.

The Palace Garden is wild and overrun, a confusing tangle of growth gone wild over the course of centuries; in many ways it is more savage than the land around it, with the garden walls holding it in instead of keeping the outside out. But that does not mean it's unnavigable; dutiful exploration has led you to the edge of the ancient palace that held Ascelion's monarchy before the island was given over almost entirely to the Magicademy. What's more, time has allowed a twisting network of ivy to grow up to a crumbled balcony above -- an entrance point!

The crumbling stonework really isn't safe to climb, though. You're advised to bring some help. A team can succeed where one person will fail.

After a very long time and the tragic loss of Kazuma, a break-in is being attempted.

With a roll of 2, Jude is going tumbling.

On the upside, that will tell her enough that the second attempt will go much better.

Once you reach the balcony, faint scrapings and shudderings sound in the distance -- investigation reveals a massive statue of a turtle stands in front of a door, and it's animated! Is what's behind the door worth the risk?

For V, the Donjon's Master's guide seems a little to on the nose (which the OOTS lacks) to avoid. So we'll go with that.

Xion unlocked Illegal Eagull and will do that, please.

And since Sho left the dance to hunt for his dragon, Tumble into Tunnels is probably the quest he'd just... fall into anyway.

(No one ever replied to Xion's post for Fire! so not sure what to do with her quest from last month. Sho's got a good one on one thread going, but still hasn't finished.)

We have been going crazy looking for this, and sincerely apologize for missing it.

For Xion:

The Boss Eagull (so named for lack of a better term) has taken up residence on top of City Hall! No one is quite sure what to do about this, because said eagull is the size of a wagon and every bit as fearsome, mean, and cranky as the average goose. Can Xion please, please, please deal with this beast?

For V:

According to legend (the Ascelion Preservation Society tells you), this ancient building on the Magicademy campus was once home to a fearsome tyrant, who used spells that came later to be known as Sundering and Dictation to raise the dead and bind them to her cause. No one is entirely certain why she took up residence at the very bottom of a sprawling underground complex, but nonetheless she DID, and the Society would very much like to restore this ancient keep (or 'donjon') to its former glory to educate others about the dark times before the Codifications. Can you help? WILL you help?

Whoops. That was a weak spot in the ground. Now you're deep in the depths of Ascelion. Darkness surrounds you, dust and stale air make your lungs ache, and your posterior hurts a little. But only a little. What broke your fall?

As for Sho, not sure how to bring other people in on his since he fell whilst alone. So... here goes!!!

Sho landed after a fall. What the factorial! He tried to see what he landed on, and saw webs. Big webs. Okay, that was zetta sweet. He rolled carefully one way, then the other, trying to weaken the glue, were there any, to free himself. Maybe he could make a minion out of whatever beast wove these webs. Then he'd have Reason, his Dragon, and a potentially infinitely large spider. Things just kept getting better for him!

Taking place after brushing up on the mental defense lessons Ire sent him and uh... card game insanity-

Spyro is set and ready to go for the unlocked Belly of the Beast! Accompanying him is Noa and Seto Kaiba.

The caverns beneath the Magicademy only grow darker and colder as you venture into places water carved open long ago and since has left untouched. Your previous explorations have given you an idea of where the ghost dragon might have gone -- a spot so cold the water clinging to the walls has frozen. Best be prepared for supernaturally chilly weather down here.

If you can get down. You must first face a simple spell shield, a barricade that allows none to pass. This is standard warding magic wrought powerfully; can you find a way through, or past, or around?

To summarize the response, the gang is putting the force field under pressure using a guitar, humming, and foot tapping as a focus.

But we can totally step up to adding an ocarina and a whole CHOIR of penguins. Because we are a part of a rhythm nation house~!
