Him calling her a child got another physical reaction: the guarded anger turned into anger outright and her jaw was being clenched so tight it couldn't be comfortable (it wasn't). She made the conscious choice to move her hands so she was gripping the edge of the building rather than clenching her hands into fists. He was talking down to her and digging at her pride on purpose, that little amused expression told her that much.
