He was so very tired of arriving in new places, being thrust into problems and expected to play savior or to help with their plight. But he was a free agent now, and even if he could not control where he was, he could at least control how he wanted to respond to things. "Let's get you your uniform, then, and some tea, and find out where your room is so you can have a nice nap and maybe you'll feel better," unlikely, but he could hope, "afterwards. I'm sorry I cannot offer you better."
