A Word From Your Mod Team
Hello to our new players and happy holidays to all of you!
This Month In Diatu
Snow Days feature the winter's nicest weather, as clouds gently unload steady inches of soft, fluffy flakes that become perfect for snowmen, snowball fights, and snow-based summonings. Animated snow golems march around campus causing trouble, often powered by some magic in that old top hat they found. Paths and walks remain clear thanks to the cleaning golems, which roam in great numbers blasting fire to melt the snow. The north half of campus is entirely dominated by golem-gang activities, as the Flaming Cleaners and the Snow Dummies Here gangs war with each other. Students who can avoid openly laughing at these terrible names are recruited for quests by golems helpfully wearing giant yellow exclamation-mark hats, and a complicated reputation system gates the best vendor purchases from the respective gangs, but it might be worth helping anyway.
Campus Tours escort promising wizards-to-be around Diatu Magicademy, as wealthy parents and guardians contemplate whether they should enroll their offspring in the most famous but also most dangerous Magicademy, or send them to a different one that might not be as prestigious but also might not be the biggest metaphorical ticking bomb in the history of humankind. This means the visiting youths are, all too frequently, arrogant brats who have a foundation in magic and believe themselves to be superior to the beginner students here, especially including the Sundered. Headmaster Birony has informed everyone that these students are critical to the school's ongoing survival, so anything you do to them can't leave evidence. In a completely unrelated incident, a message on the BBS that absolutely doesn't look like Headmaster Birony's handwriting offers instructions on how to enchant a sack of doorknobs so it doesn't cause bruising. The Caverns Beneath The Academy... are empty? Is that good? That's bad, isn't it.
The Wild Hunt has emerged as the sun creeps towards solstice, renamed itself "the WYLD HÜNT" in an effort to appeal to modern sensitivities, and roams the island in the dark of night. Those who walk in darkness risk being kidnapped by the WYLD HÜNT and subjected to serve as their roadies for the night; those who return may never hear quite the same again. Professor Loshakle has advised everyone that, should you hear or see their ghoulish horses stalking your way, a sacred ritual will quell their hostility: simply point to the horses, identify them as "wyld stallyns", and make motions with both hands as if you held a guitar made out of air. This unfailingly makes the WYLD HÜNT be excellent to you, if you are in turn excellent to them and unfailingly pronounce the umlaut.
This Month In Anastara
Snowy Docks mean job opportunities for those who can magic up heat and fire or otherwise clear the areas so commerce can resume. Anastara relies heavily on imports to survive, after all.
Upcoming Events
We have two events for you this month! Coming up on the 6th, a wacky disaster that almost certainly has nothing to do with Tyzias will incarnate your Shadows, the embodiments of your repressed and shameful emotions now free to run amuck. And later, holiday disaster will occur courtesy of Spyro and, let's face it, probably Cam Birony.
Adventures
As detailed on our Adventures page, you may sign up for an adventure by responding to the appropriate comment on this post. We will respond with your adventure setups in a few days. You may undertake a new adventure this month even if you are still in an adventure from previous months.
We also want to encourage everyone to involve others in your adventures! Our efforts at running purely solo adventures have ultimately not worked out well, so we want to emphasize their role in building CR and engaging in plot or silliness.
Gimme An Answer
Replacing most other options, Gimme An Answer is your place to communicate with the mod team if you want any sort of results from us. Actions, for example, now fall under here, as do regains, questions, or whatever you've got, really.
