September Activity Check

Welcome to the September activity check for Diatu Magicademy! A reminder of our rules:

You must provide one log thread with at least 5 comments from your character.

You must provide either an additional log thread with at least 5 comments from your character, or a network thread with at least 10 comments from your character.

If you have some activity during the month, but not enough to pass AC, you may request a strike. To clear the strike, you must provide double activity the subsequent month.

Owing to external circumstances, valid activity and the activity check deadline have both been extended this month. The activity check will close Monday, October 7 and all activity made until then is valid.

Activity must be submitted by Saturday, September 7 at 8 PM Eastern time.

Also, as a reminder, the results of your Actions will be posted as a response to your activity check. If you haven't chosen any, you have until AC closes to do so. If you are on hiatus, simply check in! Your activities will be processed as normal.

Universal Focus (Upgraded)
This long, tapering, rough crystal was a gift from the mysterious ghost. It is perfectly well-suited for any focus use -- it functions as a wand, a means to draw equations or circles, a focus for prayer that helps obviate the need for spoken benedictions... Perhaps even more helpfully, it leaps immediately to Lady's hand whenever she needs it, so long as it is somewhere on her person. Nothing can prevent that and the element of surprise can offer some serious advantages!

1. He's been in the Magicademy for six hundred years, ever since its founding. So he's seen almost everything of note that occurred in it, one way or the other. As is to be expected from Anastara Diatu, right?

2. Yes. Dozens if not hundreds, depending on what you consider a secret! The island of Ascelion as a whole was honeycombed with defensive fortifications, secret passages, experimental anti-dragon weaponry, and so many wild magics made before the Grand Codification.

3. Death magic, hmm? Thinking of them in terms of 'spells' is too narrow. What she wants is to find a blend of Curricula that will accomplish her goals. To inflict direct death on someone, for example, Modification is the key. To create an area of necrotic energy, she wants perhaps Thaumaturgy, perhaps Sundering, perhaps Discovery. The key is not to desire a spell that accomplishes what you want; it is to determine what you want to accomplish, and then build the means to get there. It's intensely personal, but he himself will be of aid if she needs it.

4. Even though Sundering was banned, it was still Codified. 'They' aren't concealing that deliberately; rather, it is so obvious a fact to them that they haven't thought to point it out.
