August Game Announcements A Word From Your Mod Team Hi everyone! That's it. We don't have a lot more this time around. What? REGAINS ARE A THING TO STAY?! With last month's Research on the Sundered, we introduced regains to our Magicademy, and despite all known rules of narrative convenience, the researchers responsible have not inexplicably forgotten how to perform the spells that caused these faint connections to your home world. To that extent, each character may now earn one regain per month. To do so, you need simply comment on this post with what you would like to regain, and some associated concept of your home world or canon. You may also recommend a concept that works with that, a theme for us to build off of. Conflict, for example, is always valid! Once you've received your approval and prompt, go wild with what we've given you. And of course there will be absolutely no long-term repercussions or consequences of regains! (Please pardon us a moment while we massage our jaws back into place, as they were dislocated by not malicious laughter.) This Month In Diatu Hail becomes a concern around this time, thanks to some peculiarity of air currents and ocean evaporation. Luckily, hailstorms are brief when they appear, but inevitably sudden and fierce for their short lives. Woe be unto the student who fails to protect themselves with a suitable shield when they spend any time out of doors! A Visiting Professor offers special guest lectures during the evening. Professor Drom is a savvy thaumaturge, an expert on Glyphics, and a minotaur, all three of which he works quite hard at, with an aplomb that rivals Professor Trammel (and has apparently started rumors that they are or have been a couple). The Caverns Beneath The Academy are officially off-limits now, save solely for the magical labs and other necessary places for continuing education. The faculty doesn't understand why you all need to be told not to go try to poke a ghost dragon with a stick, but apparently you do. Balloons festoon the campus. No reason, they just do. This Month In Anastara A Traveling Festival has set up camp down by the docks (which is the only real space they can fit). Come see acrobatics, clowns and sideshow acts, tightrope walking, rare and exotic animals treated in ways not quite in line with modern ethics, and ending with the legendary Manticore of Munn! Adventures As detailed on our Adventures page, you may sign up for an adventure by responding to the appropriate comment on this post. We will respond with your adventure setups in a few days. You may undertake a new adventure this month even if you are still in an adventure from previous months. We also want to encourage everyone to involve others in your adventures! Though it is possible to do many adventures solo, we intend them as opportunities for characters to mix and mingle. Actions To represent characters working long-term towards a goal, you can submit up to two actions on the appropriate comment below that your character will be focusing their time towards (or one action twice). This can range from studying, to exploration, to trying to gain points for the Colormarch, to buttering up NPCs, to others. At the end of the month, once you submit AC, you will be given your results. No Second Event Activity outside the events in July was fairly low, so we're giving you August to get some of your own plans and plots going. Have fun! Don't do anything we would do! CITY HALL IS UNDER SIEGE! ...by revelers. Someone has thrown a party out in the streets, and said party has grown out of control in scope and time. People keep showing up, and inviting more people, and now business has all but shut down because barely anyone can get to the seat of government!

The desperate mayor has announced a reward for anyone who can harmlessly disperse this party.

V: Just another peaceful day in the Magicademy grounds... when, without warning, a small army coalesces out of the aether! This army is obviously phantasmal in nature, seeing as how its members consist of nothing more than outlines of figures in armor and wielding pikes, all of them a singularly monochrome shade of blue. No worries, right?

...well, their footsteps crush the grass, and if you dare to find out, their pikes ignore armor but not flesh. This is bad, right? What will you do?

Sho:

Airships routinely deliver supplies to Diatu Magicademy, so the one docked about the Great Hall isn't too surprising. What is surprising is when a box tumbles down from it, landing neatly in front of Sho.

"Bananas (30,000lbs)" reads the label, and the edges of the small, forearm-sized box are slowly but inevitable creaking and cracking as damage from the fall threatens to loose its contents. Better choose a course of action quickly...

Since regaining Lunatic, Isa has been training with Lea to learn to fight properly and to overcome habits he learned by relying too heavily on his berserk powers.

After a delay to adjust to Having a Horse, Noa's doubling down on Dragon-Ghost Research; specifically he's trying to sort out anything that can be used to deal with that thing- he's frankly not very trusting of the cavern ban's effectiveness, and doesn't think it's a good idea to leave a dragon ghost with enslavement on the mind just...haunting the campus caverns.

With that in mind, he's also looking into Dragon-related magic. Who knows where that rabbit hole is going, but this month is just, A month of Dragons because Noa doesn't know how to do anything other than GO HARD when he starts something.

Roxas will be mostly focusing on his studies, though after picking up a few interesting books at The Book Exchange he will putting extra focus on Fantastics and Thaumaturgey. He also picked up the first volume of a local fantasy romance novel at said book exchange, so that's also fun.

Also, he'll probably pay a visit to his friend Gideon the Wise to see how that old wizard is doing. Learn anything cool since his last visit?

Webby will be...

(1) Attending one of Professor Drom's lectures! (and asking many questions!)

and

(2) bonding with her familiar, Jorry the snake.

One day I'll remember how to do anything ever and get back to it.

Since she was new this month, the only real thing of note she'd really be doing is sending some letters to Ire mostly to get some more information on what the actual hell is the deal with dragons in this place. Also if there's anyone who might have some better information about how to get started on controlling the whole dragon soul shenanigans she has.

Lately, it seems he's being especially noticed in the industry. Feeling like his popularity was cresting a wave, Tenn turned his full focus to honing his artistry, consistently delivering the best possible performances to his audience.

During this time, Tenn was grateful to avail himself of Lady Field's expertise and generosity, attending concerts when he could for study. (And sharing his thoughts on performances when he saw her at Melody's.)

Noctis will be taking up piano lessons and seeing if he can craft spells into magical flasks like he could back home.

Hendrik will be working on acquiring buff and defensive type spells for his actions.

Yuki will be studying Thaumaturgy and seeing if somehow he can change houses to Aer et Calculum.

Huey is going to be pouring his focus into two kinds of magic study this month: Forging and Sundering. That second one likely mostly involving finding the research team, if possible.

Lady is going to explore and try to grow closer with her special connection.

Yugi is going to strengthen his familiar bond and look into Sundering, specifically anything related to summoning like the students had done or like Deathtoll is kind of capable of.

Louie will be focusing on his delivery service business and Familiar Bond with Cash.

Rapunzel will be focusing on Familiar Bond with Haley and continued exploration - this time, of the three rings beyond the school!

March Hare will be focusing exclusively on finding a job and will be starting his search at libraries and bookstores!

Atem has been exploring the area mostly looking for that missing puzzle piece which will get an updated log soon!, and working on bonding with his familiar.

Hel has been studying sundering and preparing to potentially start tutoring.

Marisol has been familiarizing herself with Anastara and seeking food for her ravenous familiar.

Cliff has been working on Forging, and his side gemcutting business (If you can call it that).

Isabel is working with her familiar bond with Chaos, and turning her eye to Valhudor's standings in the Colormarch.

Yotsuyu's curiosity got the better of her, and she did her best to sit in on Professor Drom's lectures. She also has been spending some time studying Sundering on her own.

Xion: Just has no clue what to do with this whatsoever, so will probably skip this adventure, sadly.

Sho. Oh come on. Like you thought he would do otherwise? Wings appearing and flaring, he's jumping onto of the box to help it open faster and to ride the lid. Wherever he stops, that's his new banana themed trash sculpture.

Kaiba is continuing to study sundering and challenge people to games.

Sunset is trying to fix Spyro's guitar with lightning spells and studying generally.

Spyro passes along a letter to Ire from his buddy Noa.

Noa starts that letter by noting he's been talking to Spyro, goes to school with him... (distinctly not using the words ‘buddy’ or ‘friend’) but gets to the point about his concerns. Because there’s plenty of fellow students who might want to talk to the ghost too despite things like faculty rules and common sense.

So Noa asks how can they keep people away from the ghost dragon if not banish it back to whatever afterlife it came from.


Spyro is using the skills gained from his forging class to attempt making the magical equivalent of an amp for the guitar he got from the fountain demon (djinn). Like a ring attachment or something.

(Meanwhile, Sunset is helping with trying to solve the problem in the pickups.)

Now that she knows of the Magical Black Market, Jude will be focusing on making contacts with the intention of finding a job there, likely as a smuggler/runner and/or enforcer of some sort?

She's also going really hard on her Discovery studies this month, especially since she's been finding magic increasingly useful in her day-to-day.

Diligent searching finds both the obelisk and the symbol on it, among so many others. No sooner does the Millennium Falcon come near it than the obelisk lights up with a shimmering glow. A trap! Lightning leaps from its point, striking at those nearby -- what will you do?

Good news! The research team is able to identify how the geese could use these magic items!

Bad news: They're being taught by a Goose King. Imagine your average jerk of a goose, except ten feet tall, wickedly smart, wearing a crown, and aggressively smoking a pipe. And you're on its list for messing with its brethren.

Hope you have some reliable allies to stand by your side. Did we mention it knows how to use a greatsword?
