★ The Airship There ★ [ never let it be said that Lloyd wasn't already familiar with flying vehicles; he had the rheiards to thank for that. zipping around to and fro through the air without a care in the world was something he was accustomed to, sure, and he's seen floating islands as well… but never in Lloyd's wildest dreams did he imagine seeing an entire ship soaring through the sky as well! almost immediately after he boarded, he could be seen zipping anywhere and everywhere, taking in the sights and watching the contraption work its magic from the inside out.
it's not long, however, before Lloyd's enthusiasm dies down and he can be found leaning against a railing right before a window. he's staring outside of the glass listlessly, his brows knitted together in a pensive frown that could easily draw concern from all who knew him -- and possibly some who don't. is he thinking about home? his friends? the mission he's been suddenly plucked away from? before one could even come to a conclusion, Lloyd suddenly pipes up with a long, drawn out sigh. ]
…This hunk'a junk's not really all that special, huh?
[ …turns out it was none of those. the idiot's just already bored of the airship. ]
★ Rain, Rain… ★ [ so Lloyd may have quickly lost interest in the airship after a grand total of twenty minutes onboard, but that excitement was quickly revitalized by the sight of the school itself coming into view, which could be considered surprising. school was never really Lloyd's shtick, but this was a school on magic. how could he not be fascinated by the concept?!
it's just a right shame that it happened to be pouring.
it doesn't take long for Lloyd to end up so drenched that he ends up looking more like a certain broody red-haired swordsman than his usual doofy self, and it quickly becomes frustrating for him to constantly have to brush his hair away from his face. he does take pause at the gates, watching with fascination as the students began working on… something or other. the math jargon was beyond him, but the diagram was a bit of a familiar sight. he'd seen plenty of those back home, when his friends were casting magic.
…until the spell is completed. suddenly the temperature drops in a way that Lloyd knows isn't coming from his wet clothes and he's suddenly hit with a blast of cold air. he's quick to react, shielding himself from the cold wind as best as he can — a futile effort, really — before he hightails it to the nearest source of cover. not without tossing out a displeased "What the hell was that for?!" at the students.
once under cover, he sighs heavily, moving to remove one of his soaked gloves to wring it out. he pipes up, not really addressing anyone in particular as he speaks. ]
Man… what a welcome that was.
★ Thaumaturgy 101 ★ [ as mentioned earlier, school was never really Lloyd's shtick. he was always one of the worst students in the class, if not the worst, simply for the fact that he had such a short attention span that he had trouble retaining information. it took having his dinner being denied to him for him to remember all the Dwarven Vows by heart, after all.
and that short attention span is very much prevalent here. throughout the short lecture, Lloyd was either found dozing off, staring out a window (if there were even windows), or doodling something or other in his journal-- all of which were the exact opposite of what he was expected to be doing. he doesn't even really look up until he spots the shimmering from the corner of his eye, catching the tail-end of the spell before he could watch the proper motions behind it.
crap. uh.
gulping, he scrambles for his wand before leaning to his neighbor. he hasn't had an opportunity to really get to know his classmates, but they wouldn't just leave him in the dust like this… right? ]
Hey, uh. Hhhow did he do that glitter-thing again?
