The battle over the Millennium items was over, was there any lingering harm in just being truthful about it? One nervous chuckle later,"I might have gotten wrapped up in my fair share of incidents." Not all of them were beyond reproach either, like when he used the Seal of the Orichalcos, or... the early days of when the puzzle was first put back together. This could be some sort of karmic balancing.
