His voice wasn't much above a murmur, so he leaned in, but what he was saying could have been anything for the benefit of the crowd or the other students. He did tug her off into the background a little, so the spotlight was definitely on the two it was supposed to be. Cliff, at least, was used to being background decoration--and preferred it, really, were he to be asked!
