They've been brought to this world with each the same reason and he knows he can rely on her to study and strive, just the same as he will, solely because if they don't, the magic this world has cursed or gifted them with, depending on how they saw it or how it benefitted them in the end, would kill them if they didn't. That was the only given in this world. He could rely on nothing else.
