November Game Announcements
A Word From Your Mod Team
Things are going to change.
First off, we apologize for how belated this announcement is! We've been pondering just what changes to make to the game for its long-term benefit ever since the close of October AC, and only now that we've reached some decisions are we ready to start the announcements.
Where do we stand at the moment? Well, it is obvious that Diatu is not destined for primacy as a household name in DWRP. Quite the opposite; were we to process last month's AC strictly, we'd be under 30 characters and 20 players.
Does that mean we're done? Heck no! We love this game and we think you all do too. But with these numbers, and with every likelihood they'd go down rather than up as we enter the holiday season, we need to change this game away from the structure of a large and formal RP standard.
So What's Changing?
No reserves or applications. We will instead move to a claim system; players can simply put in their character information and their customization requests (House, special something) when they make their claim and we will process accordingly. We haven't seen any cause to reject applications since almost the start of the game, so we suspect this will not cause any trouble in the long term.
No AC. Instead, we will operate simply under a check-in system. Being realistic, the game would struggle through the holiday season anyway, possibly even collapse into a death-spiral. Instead, we hope this will encourage you not to worry about making AC and simply focusing on what you want to play. It should also make it easier for those of you who felt the pressure of AC to bring back characters you dropped out of concern for time investment, if you so choose. No more Actions or most associated benefits, not in a formal sense. That means Regard, Colormarch, Fame, and Familiar Bond at the very least. If we're being honest, updating those consistently proved a real slog -- which we anticipated, but at the same time, we've seen very little motion in Regard, especially, for all the effort we've put into updating it. The Colormarch, meanwhile, simply makes no sense to maintain with low overall numbers, especially with poor Gekronus Maius having only two students to its name right now. Actions themselves are all universally last-minute things as well. By doing away with all of this, we'll put less burden on you to come up with these things and save us the grief of updating them.
What's New?
The Gimme A Response system. In lieu of Actions, we'll implement a Gimme A Response thread each month where you can tag for anything that requires mod attention. Requests for NPCs, exploration desires, general actions, or anything you want our feedback.
The Benefit
By knocking away a lot of the things that are only burdening us at this point, the mod team will instead commit to much faster turnaround on responses and NPC threads. Those are really what we like most too, so eliminating the bureaucracy of gaming will let us get back to what's most important: enjoying this game we made with you all!
Feedback
Thoughts, opinions? We haven't updated anything yet on the other pages, preferring instead to share this with you all first to see what you think.

Now, as for our current actions posted at the last AC, will we be getting responses to those soon or should we expect to poke at an upcoming Gimme A Response thread over the next few days?

Also I'm glad the Adventures and all that will be around! Thanks so much for your efforts with everything!

As for the AC change, ALSO thank you. I might actually be able to re-enable a friend who had to drop because they couldn't make AC. Also I personally have so much anxiety over AC that this is amazing. Again, thank you!

Though I do think that despite the fact there haven't been any poorly made applications that required the mods to outright reject them, it's still a good system to keep. Because honestly, you never know.
Looking forward to the increased priority for NPC threading too.
